    Doors FAQ

These are our most asked questions about doors.

    Which door is best?

That depends on what you need the door for. If you need the best security go for a composite door. If you are looking for something classic a wooden door could be a good fit for you. uPVC is thermally efficient and low maintenance. Aluminium gives you a slimmer frame if you want a door with a large pane of glass.

How do I choose a door?

When choosing a door you will need to think about:

Style. Where is the door going? If it’s a door to fill a large area you might need some sliding doors to french doors.

Materials. What are the features you are looking for in a door. There is a range of materials that doors can be made up of. All the materials have things that they are better at doing than others.

Colour. Most doors are available in a range of colours. From solid colours to two-tone options. Doors add so much character to a house make sure you choose a colour that makes your home look amazing.

    Are glass doors safe?

Glass doors are safe. Our doors are made with tough glass that is exceedingly hard to break. The way we build these doors means that you can feel secure that the door will be safe.

Do I need planning permission to get a new exterior door?

Most of the time you do not need planning permission to get a new door. If you live in a conservation area or in a building that is of historic significance it is always advised to check with your local authority.

Is there a lucky colour for a door?

In feng shui there are a few colours for doors that are suggested to bring you luck. The lucky colour will depend on which direction your door faces.

North facing door = blue or black

East facing door = brown or green

South facing door = red or orange

West facing door = gray or white
